Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics
Last week I attended a Charlotte Tilbury masterclass at The Academy of Freelance Make-up in London. The evening was a real celebration of Charlotte’s hugely successful cosmetics launch and was full of eager pro make up artists desperate to get a little insight into Charlotte’s amazing career as a make up artist and ultimately get our hands on the products. For those of you that don’t know anything about Charlotte Tilbury she is one of the most successful make up artists of all time, she has worked with every gorgeous face in the industry. She's the magician who gives Kate Moss her trademark feline eye and nude lip, Adele her peachy sheen, J-Lo her A-list goddess glow and is the only artist to have done the cover of Vogue in three countries in the same month!- need I say anymore! Her cosmetics line launched last year and has completely revolutionized the way in which women can shop for cosmetics. She has designed 10 looks all of which are based on classic film stars or a subtle nod to one of her a-list clients iconic looks. The idea is that in the same way you would throw on an outfit to fit a certain trend or image you can choose your make up look in the exact same way. Changing your make up is definitely something all women should explore, we all have a certain look we feel most comfortable with but with Charlotte Tilbury’s cosmetics line you can easily adapt yourself into your inner rock chick or a total bombshell through just a slick of a different lippy. Of course all her cosmetics are available to purchase individually but this idea of buying a complete look is so easy and a fabulous idea for presents for any men reading this blog hint hint...oh that’s unlikely!
I purchased the Dolce Vita set on the evening and was so excited when it arrived in the post this morning. The Dolce Vita is there bestselling set and I can’t say I am suprised, it is a gorgeous mix of bronze, coppery, rusty tones with a beautiful peachy nude lip and the most perfect pink blush and so totally wearable but still uber glam. I of course immediately put it all on my face and thought I would tell you what I thought of a few of the products in todays blog.
The eyeshadow palettes are so well designed, again with even the biggest make up novice in mind. The palettes are divided into four sections, the lightest shade is designed to go all over lid and Charlotte has actually included priming agents in this lighter shadow which is meant to act as a perfect base for anything you put on top and to stop the shadow from creasing or fading. Then there is the enhancing shade which is usually the statement colour in the palette, in the Dolce Vita palette it is a rusty copper red which is designed to enhance the eye and in this case is amazing at making green eyes pop- good job I have a pair of those! Next is the smoke shade which adds depth and is great to put though the socket crease and brilliant for turning it from a day to an evening eye look. Finally, the best bit in my eyes, the pop shade which is what I like to call grown up glitter, it is blended with cashmere proteins (SOLD!) and so best applied with your finger to the centre of the eyelid which will just catch the light and look so damn sparkly.

Now I am a bit of a lipstick slut, I buy them I wear them and then I move onto the next one in a few weeks so saying I love the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks is not much of a surprise however what I do completely and utterly adore is the combination of the Pillow Talk Lip Cheat Liner, Penelope Pink Lipstick (a la Penelope Cruz- yes purleez) with Seduction Lip gloss over the top. Instantly my lips look juicy and full and genuinely a little bit like I have had a cheeky lip injection in a sexy way (..less Pete Burns!) which is just brilliant if like me you have fine lips and are seeking fullness.
The ‘Cheek to Chic’ Blushers again are a genius design, all come with two shades. The outer edge of the blush is a softer more wearable shade designed to be swished with your blush brush up onto the cheek bone and the central shade a much brighter complimentary colour to pop onto the apples of the cheeks to add a burst of colour and bring the face to life. This is a technique that make up artists use all the time as it naturally lifts and brightens the face and leaves your blush looking modern and fresh and less Aunt Sally. My blusher is called Ecstasy and is a beautiful bronze peach shade with a pinky coral centre and will definitely be making a firm stay in my personal make up bag.
I would definitely recommend exploring the Charlotte Tilbury line, she is a true professional and has designed her make up line so that every woman can be her own make up artist. Charlotte Tilbury cosmetics are currently exclusive to Selfridges London.
'There is no exclusive club, shrouded in secrecy - everyone can look beautiful,' says Charlotte Tilbury.
